Dr. Ed Venable is a native of Kernersville, North Carolina. He received Christ as his savior at nine years of age through the ministry of Kerwin Baptist Church. After graduating from a Christian school in 1978, he had the privilege of sitting under the ministry of Dr. Lee Roberson at Highland Park Baptist Church and graduated from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1982 with a degree in English. 

His first teaching experience was at Vandalia Baptist Christian School in Greensboro. After one year at Vandalia, he entered the North Carolina public school system where he taught elementary and middle grades and coached in the Yadkin County School System for twenty-three years and in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System for six years. In addition to teaching and coaching, he served on school improvement teams, as an academic team leader, and as a mentor teacher. After retiring from the public school system in 2014, he taught for two years at a Christian school near Winston-Salem.

He earned his Master of Arts in middle grades education from Appalachian State University in 1987 and his Doctor of Education degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2011. With thirty-two years of teaching experience, he desired to assist in training men and women who wanted to serve the Lord.  

He enjoys serving the Lord through teaching Sunday school at his local church and coaching and refereeing in Upward Sports. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Susan and son, Brayden who attends a Christian School. He is an avid reader of Christian books, the Protestant Reformation, and the American Civil War.
